Lifelong Learning

Lifelong Learning

Learning is a lifelong journey that helps us continue to grow through new experiences.

For mature adults, lifelong learning can also be important to nurture cognitive wellness, connect to technology, share experiences and remain connected with one’s community. For some, learning promotes purpose and engagement. At Jennings, lifelong learning is a vital part of two of our values: discovery of potential and celebration of life.

Highlights:

  • Distance Learning by Videoconference
Videoconference equipment enables our participants to connect with various museums and artists locally and around the world for one-hour interactive programs. The equipment includes a large screen for us to see the presenter, a camera for the presenter to see our audience, speakers for us to hear the presenter and a microphone for the off-site presenter to hear us during discussions.
  • Presentations
A variety of presenters offer education to an audience. Exciting history comes alive, geographic interests from around the country come close to home, current health care tips offer insight and local topics rouse your curiosity as experts from Northeast Ohio share their knowledge.
  • Book Club
A resident-led book discussion enables adults to enjoy popular literature and discuss it amongst their peers in a comfortable environment.
  • Workshops
Residents celebrate creativity with one of our unique workshops. Whether an individual is a beginner or expert, each loves to participate in our groups like creative writing, opera appreciation, poetry, ceramics, painting and more. With one-time and recurring workshops, there is something for everyone to explore!

Some of our lifelong learning opportunities are open to the public. It’s easy to participate in lifelong learning and Gateway to Culture events at Jennings because:

  • Our venues are centrally located and handicap accessible with close parking, nearby restrooms and highly flexible seating.
  • Events are affordable – either free or a nominal fee to participate.
  • We understand physical demands, so we offer condensed programs, clear speakers and volunteers to assist with projects as needed.
