Compassion
Compassion
Compassion is the feeling connectedness with another. We show compassion in how we welcome each other in our day to day interactions. We learn about things we have in common by sharing our stories and our ideas about how to foster good relationships with co-workers, residents, tenants, and program participants.
“Then said he also to him that bade him, When though makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbors; But when though makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed and the blind.-
Luke 14:12-13
In this scripture verse Jesus asks us to welcome everyone to our table. He calls us to reach out to those whom we do not know; to those whom we might not otherwise recognize as part of our family and whose burdens we might share. In so doing, we come to understand the ways in which we are all the same.
