Alex: Jennings empowers me to keep working on my model shipbuilding

Alex discovered a love for model shipbuilding - though not until he found he had the time in his eighties. He had built three model ships, and he discovered his passion didn't end when he moved to Jennings at Brecksville.

“My kids brought a work bench up for me and put it together, and Jennings has allowed me to do this,” he said. “They love to display the boats downstairs. We’ve had all five of them down there, and the staff carried them down for me to put them on display in the community room.”

Staff and residents alike are impressed with his knowledge of each boat's history and the hours he has spent carefully crafting even the minor details. Alex is currently working on his sixth ship, which is a replica tugboat. "Each boat takes about 6 months to a year. I enjoy doing it; the only problem is that the time goes by so fast."

At Jennings, we love to support residents' passions and purpose. But wow, what a compliment Alex gave to Jennings about our support of his hobby: “This is my home! When I go out, I'm happy to come back home here. I love Jennings; the people are so good and friendly,” said McMasters. “And the service is just wonderful. Of all the places I’ve heard about, this place was number one. Jennings has been very supportive of my boat building, and I can’t say enough about the staff here and all the help they give me.”
