Jennings recognizes social workers during Social Work Month

Social workers positively impact the lives of millions of people every day, especially in aging services and health care settings. Their ability to bridge gaps and find resources helps individuals navigate complex health and life challenges, from chronic illness management to recovery and quality of life. During Social Work Month, we recognize Jennings’ social workers – Tamera Ellis, Renee Wolcott, Stephanie Kodek and Becky Manelski – for supporting residents, patients and families every day.

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is celebrating Social Work Month with the theme: “Uplift. Defend. Transform.” The theme honors the prime mission of the social work profession – to enhance human well-being, meet the basic human needs of all people, and put special attention on the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable.

Here are some of the unique ways that social workers assist aging adults:

  • Coordinating transitions from the hospital to short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation or back to home with coordinated services
  • Connecting care across a wide range of available services to support an individual's goals
  • Providing choices that support individual preferences and goals for care and quality of life
  • Discussing options with individuals and families to assist in decision making
  • Creating holistic care plans for wellness in mind, body and spirit

If you know our social workers, you know they bring empathy, insight, and a deep commitment into every interaction. They champion resident choices, coordinate care transitions, and work with many other disciplines for the best possible results. Thank you, social workers, for your compassion and commitment to serving aging adults!
