Connect, Create, Contribute: May is Older Americans Month

Each year, more and more older adults are making a positive impact in and around Jennings. As volunteers, staff members, employers, educators, mentors, advocates, and more, they offer insight and experience that benefit the entire community. That’s why Older Americans Month (OAM) has been recognizing the contributions of this growing population for 56 years.

Older Americans Month encourages older Americans to stay healthy and independent, with resources to help communities support and celebrate their diversity.

This year’s OAM theme, Connect, Create, Contribute, encourages older adults and their communities to:

• Connect with friends, family, and local services and resources.
• Create through activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment.
• Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.

Jennings celebrates Older Americans Month in May and throughout the year by promoting ways that community members of all ages can take part in helping our communities thrive. We encourage you to:

Connect: Join us for an event, such as classes and performances. Or, find out more about our intergenerational programs.

Create: Photography, painting, jewelry, writing – share your talent! At Jennings, we have been busy creating all kinds of art. Celebrate the creativity of adults 55 and older throughout Northeast Ohio, discovering their potential through arts and culture. Discover their talents in our June art show:
Opening Night: Wednesday, June 12, 2019 — 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m.
Day Show: Thursday, June 13, 2019 — 10:30a.m. – 3:00p.m.

Contribute: Volunteer at Jennings! Our volunteers are an extension of the Jennings family – compassionate individuals who offer their time and talent to help our campus grow and thrive. Volunteer for Jennings Hospice or click for additional opportunities.
