Community mourns passing of Father Paul Hritz

It is with sadness and hope in Christ’s resurrection that we announce the death of Fr. Paul Hritz, retired pastor of St. Malachi and board member of Jennings Center for Older Adults, on July 6. He died peacefully at about 1 AM at Jennings Hall, where he has been living. The wake and funeral will be held at St. Malachi Church. The wake will be held on Wednesday, July 10, beginning with Vespers at 3 PM and continuing until 8 PM. Visitation will continue until the funeral on Thursday, July 11, at 11 AM.

Fr. Tony Schuerger of St. Malachi wrote on the St. Malachi web site: “Let us pray with thanksgiving for his long life and almost 60 years of priestly ministry. Let us pray that he may enjoy the blessed reward promised to such a good and faithful servant who so loved the Lord and encouraged and supported so many in their spiritual journey. Let us pray for one another and for all who mourn the loss of a loved one this day, that they may experience the consolation and peace that our faith and hope in Christ’s resurrection gives us. May Fr. Paul’s soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”

St. Malachi seeks your stories about Fr. Hritz. Please leave it in the comments at https://www.stmalachi.org/2013/07/fr-hritz/. Have a picture to share? Please post it on th St. Malachi Facebook page here. Fr. Tony Schuerger
